History
Bambi Lake Baptist Retreat & Conference Center consists of 240 acres of
rolling woodlands in Roscommon County, the heart of Northern Lower Michigan.
The property is a mixture of upland hardwoods and lowland conifers (including cedar),
and also boasts a 20-acre, spring-fed lake. The land, once a hunting club, was purchased
in September 1958 by the Baptist State Convention of Michigan. The land and all the buildings
on it were paid for through the Cooperative Program, gifts and offerings from Michigan Southern Baptists.
No debts are owed on any Bambi land, facilities or structures. Through the years,
Bambi has developed into a year-round conference center, providing worship,
training and recreational opportunities for people of all ages and interests.
Accommodations
Bambi Lake offers a variety of accommodations housing more than 250 people,
designed to meet the needs of all age groups and all camps, retreats and conferences.
The Fred D. Hubbs Lodge has 26 "motel-type" rooms, each with a double bed,
a bunk bed, and a trundle bed. Each lodge room also has it's own bathroom.
Two cabins located just up the hill from the lodge provide a total of eight similar rooms.
Five other buildings provide "bunkhouse" style sleeping for groups of individuals.
Each of these buildings has its own, shared bathroom. In addition,
a campground with 23 sites (half with water/electric hook-ups) is available
for families who want a true "up-north" experience.
